Bird Walk & Hoy Audubon Society Annual Meeting and Program

May 7 @ 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Meet in front of the nature center near the parking lot at 5:30 PM for a bird walk.
At 7:00 PM, our annual meeting & elections will be held.

Program: It’s a bird! It’s a plane. No…. It’s lunch!: Archaeological evidence for bird hunting in pre-historic North America

Mya Welch is an anthropologist and archaeologist interested in how people of the past interacted with their landscapes. They use methods like underwater archaeology, lithic (stone tool) analysis, and predictive modeling to understand mobility, seasonality, and resource use. They have worked on both terrestrial and underwater projects in Michigan, Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Israel-Palestine, and Mongolia. Mya is also deeply passionate about sharing how archaeology can help humanity to understand itself better, both past and present.

NOTE: Please check back on the day of the event for any updates/cancellations due to weather for the bird hike (strong winds, thunderstorm activity, moderate- heavy rain), etc.
